My experiences in Physical Activity

We all know that health is the most important thing in our lives, but only some of us know about how to keep healthy. Exercise can keep us fit. When we exercise, we can expel sweat from our body, the sweat had toxin in it. Also, exercise can gain the power of immunity. Anyway, exercise is the capital of our lives. During this winter holiday, I exercised about 10 hours in all. This helped me became active to study and swelled my constitution.

I played table-tennis and tennis from January to February. I really enjoyed the joy of the sport! China is very famous for table-tennis, many children like playing table-tennis. I’m just one of them. I got in touch with it at the age of five, my father used to play it with me. Because there isn’t any table-tennis table near my home, I decided to do it at home by myself. Another reason was I almost lost it since I have entered my junior high school. So, I should practice basic skills first. When I took up the racket, I suddenly felt a sense of strangeness, maybe I have been away from it for long time. I tried to beat the small, orange ball with my racket, it worked! I felt very surprised and excited, so I kept on doing. Sometimes, I dropped the ball to the ground, but I didn’t lost heart at all. The work didn’t go to waste. Finally, I could beat it more than 500 times without dropping to the ground. Also, I could play novelty. Such as beating the ball under my leg. I have a bold idea that when I go to the university, I will spread this sport and organize a table-tennis club.

Next, I played tennis. Tennis is a fashionable sport nowadays. I started to approach it when I was in the junior high school, but I seldom played it. So, I also decided to practice from basic skills. I took my appliances in front of a building my courtyard. Among my appliances, I have a plastic disk which can fix the ball. In order to catch the ball, I chose a high and wide wall. Using my racket, I hit the ball to the wall strongly, and it rebounded. This activity is full of energy and I can exercise many parts of my body. Sometimes, the ball could hit me strongly, but I didn’t care it at all. After playing it, I always got plenty of sweat on my back and hands. After strenuous exercise such happiness, it was impossible to express in words.

This winter, I practiced the two movements and I had a lot of memories Physical exercise can be busy in their daily lives to enhance their physique and physical and mental adjustment to better posture into work.

In the spring, I played table-tennis a lot. I also tried a new thing: yoga! The teacher was Ms. Mitschrich and she teaches us very Thursday morning. Yoga came from India and it’s a kind of sport to help people keep balance. I felt very excited to learn it.

To maintain good physical health is also one of the most effective methods. If you still shrouding in great under pressure, or still struggling to work in front of the computer, or still keeping on reading and writing difficultly on the desk. Would you please take 15 minutes to a small outdoor sport, will enable the body become tired and full of vitality!

My volunteer work experiences

During Jan 22nd~24th, I went to Huai Hai Homes for the elderly to do volunteer work. I felt very pleasant and learned a lot from it.

On January 22nd, I arrived at about 8 a.m. This place is not very big but looks very warm and fragrant, the building has two floors and has many rooms. The manager told me to paste the“Fu” on each door. He also gave me a bottle of glue. Pasting “Fu” is a traditional work to welcome the Chinese New Year. There is a peculiarity that each “Fu” should be fallen. In
Chinese, it called “Fu Dao”, it means the good luck will come. The work started! I pasted from the most left door. First, I took some glue on the back of the “Fu”, it’s very important to paste the four corners. Then, I put it onto the door. To prevent it from falling, I used my hands to reinforce it. It’s finished, very simple! When I finished the 1st floor’s work, I went upstairs to the 2nd floor. There are more rooms on the 2nd floor and some elderly people stood there. They were talking happily, when they saw me, they were pleased to forward to ask me about my school, why I came here and it seemed that they were very welcome my coming. When they saw me pasting, they really wanted to help me. But I didn’t want them to be tired, I thank and
refused them. There were some old stickers on doors. So I needed to tear it and change the new one. Some of the old stickers are very dirty, but I didn’t mind it. Finally, I finished this work. It took me a whole morning. The elderly people were very satisfied with my work. I was tired but felt very proud.

The next day, January 23rd, I went to Huai Hai Homes for the elderly again. I wanted to do some other things for the elderly. I decided to clean the building. There is also a small ground in front of the building. First, I swept the ground, it looked very dirty. It took me about half an hour to do it. I threw all the rubbish into the rubbish bin. Then, I went into the building. I found a piece of dishcloth to clean the windows. The windows were kept a layer of ash, so I put some water onto the dishcloth. I rubbed the windows for many times and it finally turned to be bright. The work was not tough but made me felt backache. Even though, I felt very pleasant with my labor.

Finally, on January 24th, I went to Huai Hai Homes for the elderly to do the last three-hour volunteer work. It seemed difficult to find things to do now, so I had to think out another way. I hoped to make the elderly become happier. I decided to go into the rooms and tell them some funny stories. I sat beside an old lady and began to tell of. I mainly told them the jokes that I watched on TV. They all laughed happily. We also chatted with each other. They told me that their children worked very busily and were far away from home. So they were sent to here. They thought the life here was full of vital force. At last, I helped them to make beds and cleaned the indoor sanitation. They said that they were very happy with my coming and they hoped I could come next time. The administrator Ms. Yao was very satisfied with me, too.

The 10 hours’ work passed very quickly but it’s very meaningful. I walked towards the elderly and did something I should do. I learned optimism from them and I really hope their children can often visit and look after them.

My experiences in Drama Club

During the 1st~2nd term in GCA, I joined the Drama Club. This club are organized by Vermoutha in 11-B and Tina in 11-A.There are also three teachers: Ms. Mitschrich, Ms. Chan and Mr. Burt. They are the directors and producers. I really learned a lot and made some good friends in this club.

You may want to ask me a question: Why do you join this club? Well, it’s very simple, because I’m interested in drama. I used to act in dramas when I studied in the junior high school. In fact, at the beginning of the term 1, when many students introduced their clubs, I was attracted by the Drama Club. Not only to bring up a good sense of acting, but also to learn more about the classical dramas. So I signed up, and some days later, I knew that I was chosen by the club.
So, the practise started. This year, we also acted a drama which was written by Shakespeare. It is called: The Taming of the Shrew. Almost none of us had been ever read it before. So it became a problem. We first needed to learn it in Chinese at home, and then turned it into our own words. In order to act as perfectly as possible, we nearly went to Ms. Chan’s classroom (12-C) everyday and practised the play book. I acted the 1st page. Though I didn’t have too many sentences that I had to say, but I should always act. Action and expression are very important. Also, cooperate with each other is pivotal.

At the very beginning, many impersonators didn’t come to practise at all. Usually, the two leaders looked for them everywhere, and the result was most of time, they couldn’t find them. This status lasted about one month! The three teachers became very angry, they decided to take some actions. They warned us that if we don’t come there on time, we will be kicked out. This order was very useful, each club member changed a lot. Everyone entered in his role and realized the character’s sensation. It seemed much better than before! Sometimes, we felt very tired, but we all had a faith. We had full of confidence to act well.

In December, all of us became much busier than before. Because, our performance would be shown! We went to Ms. Chan’s classroom everyday and sometimes, we needed to go the art room after school. Teachers gave us a lot of suggestions and showed us the movie of The Taming of the Shrew. We learned a lot from it. During the last week, we were all very excited but also very atwitter because last year, The Romeo and Juliet was a big success. At this time, our teachers encouraged us to believe ourselves, we were the best! We practiced every day after school until 7 p.m. Everybody acted well than before and teachers provided us the fine stage properties.

Finally, the exciting day arrived! On December 19th, I got up very early in the morning with excitement. At 4:30 p.m, I went to the hall above the canteen. Teachers dressed us up and encouraged us the last time. We believed that today’s show would be a big success! Oh, it started! We could see many audiences from the tiring-room. Mr. Gallinelli, Ms. Morgan, Mr Zalba, etc. Our show lasted about 2 hours, we all enjoyed ourselves during the show. When the show was over, we have heard the thunderous applause. We raised a lot of money of the charity in Jiangsu.

I have worked in the Drama Club for about 60 hours. I have made some new friends: Vermouth, Rachel, David, Laura, etc. I really learned a lot about how to work in a group and adjust our relationships. I also won an award for the Best Transition Work with Rachel in grade 12. I felt
very rich and I also want to join it next year!
